How Much Does LASIK Cost?

The cost of LASIK at Montgomery Eye Care varies according to the technology employed and each patient’s specific needs.

The Trusetd Source Checkbox Trusted Source The 25th Anniversary of Laser Vision Correction in the United States Joffe SN Go to Source average cost of LASIK in the United States is $2,632 per eye. We realize that other practices advertise significantly lower prices, but the truth is that these low rates only apply to minimal vision correction and often mask significant hidden fees. These practices also rarely employ the advanced technology available to patients at Montgomery Eye Care, nor do their doctors have the level of experience Dr. Montgomery has: he has performed more than 30,000 vision correction surgeries over the course of his career. Yet, LASIK costs at Montgomery Eye Care are less than the national average.

The clarity of your vision and the health of your eyes is invaluable, and it is important that they are entrusted to a doctor with the experience, technology, and skill necessary to provide you with peace of mind. When you trust Montgomery Eye Care for your LASIK or vision correction surgery, you can be assured that you’ll receive superior and thorough care at every step of the way.

Is LASIK Covered by Insurance?

LASIK is considered to be an elective (not medically necessary) treatment. This means that it is not typically covered by medical insurance. We offer a number of payment and financing options to help make copays and out-of-pocket costs more affordable for our patients.

Can I Afford LASIK?

We realize that most of our patients have budgets, but the truth is that you can most likely afford LASIK vision correction surgery. Plus, when you compare the cost of LASIK to the long-term cost of glasses and contacts, LASIK can actually save you money.

On average, patients spend a least $6,000 on corrective eyewear over the course of 10 years—and that only accounts for the cost of glasses and contacts. Not included in this amount are the cost of replacing or repairing glasses, the cost of prescription sunglasses, and the expense of annual eye exams. What this expense also doesn’t account for is the inconveniences of depending on corrective eyewear and of maintaining it, which is probably a key reason you’re considering LASIK.

LASIK Cost Comparisons

When considering the cost of LASIK, what you’re really considering is the cost of your visual freedom. When you think about it that way, LASIK is a worthwhile investment. It’s also helpful to compare the cost of LASIK to other regular expenses that you may not even think twice about.

Over the course of two years, your LASIK costs will be roughly the same as:

  • A single cup of coffee every day
  • Dinner for two at a restaurant every week
  • One mani-pedi a month

Paying for LASIK with Medical Spending Accounts

Funds from a medical spending account such as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Health Savings Account (HSA), and Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) are a great way to offset the cost of LASIK. These accounts are tax-deferred and sponsored by employers specifically to help cover the cost of medical expenses. 5-Star Rating!

I have been getting treated by Dr Montgomery for many years! 15 to be exact and when I told him I wanted to get lasik surgery he suggested I don’t because of my chronic dry eyes. However, with his care and his instructions I was able to get there. Today I can see 20/20 and I couldn’t be happier!

All I could say is the staff was amazing. The techs treated my mom so sweet, keeping her warm and comfortable. Dr. Montgomery and Dr. Dugan are the best! They did an excellent job, my mother was seeing 20/20 even before the adjustments were done. She is on top of the moon. Walking out they were calling her a Rock Star!!

Great experience with Lasik. No pressure to go through with the procedure. Tons of pre-exam information and very thorough post-exam process.
